In a challenging early Friday morning clash at Istanbul's Besiktas Akatlar Culture and Sports Complex, Gilas Pilipinas faced a formidable Turkish squad and fell short, succumbing to an 84-73 defeat. The Turkish team, buoyed by a stellar shooting performance beyond the arc, connected on 14 of 41 attempts, including a crucial 5-of-9 display by Tarik Biberovic, who led all scorers with 23 points. His final three-pointer sealed Turkey's victory, closing out the game 81-73.

Despite efforts from Justine Brownlee, who led Gilas with 21 points, and June Mar Fajardo's double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, Gilas struggled to contain Turkey's offensive momentum. The Philippine team, preparing for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Riga, Latvia, faced adversity throughout but mounted a late-game surge to narrow the gap to 68-65. However, Turkey responded with an 8-0 run that ultimately secured their lead.

Turkey, ranked 24th globally and coached by Euroleague champion Ergin Ataman, capitalized on their depth and precision, with shooting guard Furkan Korkmaz contributing 12 points, going a perfect 9-of-9 from the free-throw line. The loss marks a valuable learning experience for Gilas Pilipinas, who now turn their attention to their final tune-up match against Poland before the crucial OQT challenge.
