Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Extends Peace Summit Invitation To Philippines, Stresses Bilateral Cooperation

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine wrapped up his visit to the Philippines with significant diplomatic overtures. Amid discussions of bilateral cooperation, President Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of his visit, particularly in extending a personal invitation to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to attend the forthcoming Summit on Peace in Ukraine, slated to be hosted by Switzerland.

With 107 nations, including the Philippines, expressing their commitment to participate, the Peace Summit aims to address critical global concerns, focusing on food security, nuclear security, and humanitarian aid. President Zelenskyy emphasized the urgency of international collaboration in tackling these pressing issues.

During his bilateral meeting with President Marcos Jr., President Zelenskyy delved into various topics of mutual interest. Among them were discussions on cybersecurity, digitization, and humanitarian aid, with Ukraine offering its expertise and seeking support from the Philippines, including assistance in posttraumatic mental health.

Reflecting on shared challenges, President Zelenskyy drew parallels between Ukraine's experiences with Russia and the Philippines' confrontations in the West Philippine Sea. The interview shed light on the depth of cooperation and solidarity sought between the two nations amidst global uncertainties.
