Vice President Sara Duterte has stirred up political chatter once again by choosing to skip President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s upcoming third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22. In a bold move, Duterte has designated herself as the "designated survivor," highlighting the importance of continuity in leadership during critical national events.

"I won't be attending the SONA," Duterte stated firmly. "I'm taking on the role of designated survivor."

This decision follows Duterte's recent resignation from her post as Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd), a move that fueled speculation about her future political endeavors.

Her absence at the SONA is seen as a strategic maneuver, underscoring her independent stance and shaping public discourse on the nation's political landscape.
