Vice President Sara Duterte formally handed leadership of the Department of Education to former Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara. Angara is now the country’s Secretary of Education.

Duterte, in her parting remarks, called on the public and educators alike to extend the same support and dedication to Angara that they had shown during her tenure. She emphasized the importance of continuity in advancing the welfare of students and teachers across the country.

In response, Angara expressed his commitment to build on Duterte's initiatives, pledging to prioritize the needs of learners and educators. He assured everyone of his unwavering dedication to enhancing the educational system and fostering a conducive environment for learning.

The transition, which began with Vice President Sara Duterte's resignation from the Education Secretary post on June 19, 2024, culminated in a smooth handover that symbolized continuity and dedication to the nation's educational goals.
