In a heartfelt message to fans, Westlife's Mark Feehily has announced his temporary departure from the band's touring schedule, citing ongoing health challenges that stem from a life-threatening infection he developed after surgery in August 2020.

Feehily shared his journey over the past 3.5 years, revealing that complications from the initial surgery led to a severe sepsis infection, resulting in months of hospitalization during the 2020 lockdown.

Despite the challenges, he tried to soldier on, even performing in concerts with the band. However, subsequent health issues, including pneumonia and a large incisional hernia, led to additional surgeries, forcing him to miss significant parts of the Wild Dreams tour.

In his message, Feehily expressed deep regret at having to temporarily step down from Westlife's touring commitments until he fully recovers from his turbulent health journey. He emphasized that his recovery must now become his top priority.

His bandmates, Shane Filan, Kian Egan, and Nicky Byrne, released a joint statement expressing their support for Feehily's decision. They acknowledged his strength in continuing to perform despite health challenges and conveyed their understanding of the necessity for him to focus on recovery.

The joint statement reads, "We would like to take this opportunity to send our brother, best friend, and fellow bandmate, Mark, so many well wishes as he takes the necessary time he needs to recover. Mark has been so strong in continuing to show up on stage despite going through such a turbulent time with his health, and we completely respect that he must now focus on getting better so he can return to the stage when he is fit and well to do so! In the meantime, we will continue to fly the Westlife flag higher than ever for you guys. Love Kian, Nicky + Shane x"

Fans and well-wishers have flooded social media with messages of support for Feehily, expressing gratitude for his dedication to the band and wishing him a speedy recovery. The remaining members of Westlife reassured fans that they would continue touring and promised to make magic on stage until Feehily's return.
