Guinness World Records mourns the loss of Juan Vicente Pérez, recognized as the world's oldest man, who died at the remarkable age of 114. Pérez, born on May 27, 1909, would have celebrated his 115th birthday next month. His passing was confirmed by Freddy Bernal, the governor of Táchira, Venezuela, where Pérez resided.

Pérez's legacy of humility, hard work, and devotion to family and tradition was honored in tributes from local officials and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. His contribution to the town of El Cobre, Tachira, and to Venezuela as a whole, was noted by President Maduro, who acknowledged Pérez's Guinness World Records title and extended condolences to his family.

Having inherited the title of the world's oldest man in 2022, Pérez attributed his longevity to a disciplined lifestyle, including hard work, rest, and a daily glass of aguardiente. His enduring marriage to Ediofina del Rosario García, spanning 60 years until her passing in 1997, was marked by the joy of raising 11 children, followed by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Pérez's remarkable life spanned historic milestones, from witnessing the invention of the television to surviving COVID-19 in 2020.
