Albay to be placed under MGCQ by June

Albay spokesperson Danny Garcia says the province will be put under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) and not GCQ from June 1 to June 15.

Resolution 40 of the Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) put Albay under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status, while the other provinces were to be put under MGCQ.

Garcia said Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III phoned Albay Governor Francis Bichara Thursday morning to clarify that Albay’s status should also be MGCQ.

The province will release a new set of guidelines to be followed during MGCQ before its implementation on June 1.

The DILG said more business establishments will be opened and more activities, such as sports, will be allowed under MGCQ .

The wearing of masks, social distancing and proper hygiene are still required under MGCQ.
