The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) advised schools to apply a flexible learning system so that social distancing measures may be continued when college classes start this coming August.
CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III said state universities and colleges (SUCs) may choose online, offline, residential and non-residential methods of teaching.
“The intention is to decongest the classrooms. To reduce the number of students in classrooms at one time so that social distancing and the health of the students can be protected,” he said.
De Vera said school officials have until June to see how they may apply the new learning system to their students based on connectivity.
He said schools must determine how many of their students have no access to the internet and how many have good connectivity at home.
They have already coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to assess the connectivity of all 300 campuses nationwide.
Some private schools that still use the face-to-face method have applied for permission to continue the said method for the opening of classes in September.
