Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta honored medical frontliners in the battle against 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) during Friday’s celebration of the country’s 122nd year of independence from Spanish rule.
(As we celebrate the courage of our heroes who gave their lives to fight for our freedom and independence, it is also fitting to honor our new heroes - the frontliners who bravely face the risk of illness to serve their fellowmen.)
He encouraged the Filipino people to spread the spirit of bayanihan and care for one another while the country is still grappling with COVID-19 pandemic.
“Tayo ay magkaisa upang mapagtagumpayan ang laban sa gitna ng mga hamon tungo sa isang malayang pamumuhay at malusog na sambayanan,” he said.
(We must unite in order to succeed against challenges toward a freedom-filled life and a healthy society.)
