Cops seize P1.3-M shabu in Benguet town

BAGUIO CITY – Anti-illegal drugs operatives nabbed on Thursday night a farmer, confiscating more than 200 grams of shabu worth PHP1.360 million, during a buy-bust in Buguias, Benguet.

A report said Buguias police station, Benguet provincial mobile force company, provincial and regional intelligence units arrested Marson Bayas Ballusong, 33, of Dontog, Catlubong, Buguias, Benguet, around 9 p.m. in a sting operation.

Seized from the suspect was a small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.4 grams, the PHP1,000 used as buy-bust money, cellophane containing suspected shabu, weighing 200 grams, and other drug paraphernalia.

Ballusong is on the target list of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and included in the regional top ten personalities on illegal drugs of the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR).

The suspect will be charged with violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the anti-illegal drugs law of 2002.

In a phone interview Friday, Col. Elmer Ragay, Benguet Police Provincial Office (BPPO) director, said the drug haul is the biggest in the region.

"So far, sa region yan pinakamalaki for as far as I can remember (That is the biggest as far as I can remember in the region)," Ragay said. (PNA)
