Couple nabbed, P136-K shabu seized in Cotabato drug sting

COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics agents arrested a couple here and seized some PHP136,000 worth of suspected shabu on Wednesday night.

Juvenal Azurin, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region Muslim Mindanao, identified the arrested couple as Patrick Saavedra and his wife, Monambai, both residents of this city.

"The couple was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion 2,” Azurin said.

Seized from the couple were some 20 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP136,000, mobile phones, and the counterfeit bundles of money with two original PHP1,000 bills on top as bait.

The couple is now detained at the PDEA-BARMM headquarters here while charges for violation of R.A. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being prepared against them.

Meanwhile, police in Lanao del Sur also arrested on the same day two big-time drug peddlers in Barangay Pindulunan of Tugaya town.

Colonel Madzgani Mukaram, Lanao del Sur police director, said the two suspects, identified as Ibra Gulam and Abubacar Dilabayan, were caught in the act by the police raiding team repacking some PHP14,000 worth of suspected shabu. (PNA)
