The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that its frontline offices in Manila City will open on Monday while its main building and adjacent buildings are on lockdown after five employees of the department tested positive for COVID-19.
“While our physical operation will start on June 29, our frontline offices will start for public transactions on Monday,” DOJ spokesman Markk Perete said during Thursday’s Laging Handa virtual press conference.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra ordered the temporary closure of the department’s main building, the new NPS building and the annex building near the Court of Appeals (CA) on Wednesday to prevent possible exposure to employees who tested positive for COVID-19.
The DOJ has recorded 72 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Perete said they have to re-implement the same safety measures for their employees as when Metro Manila was still under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Flexible working arrangements such as work from home schemes are also being implemented.
