After hearing Gilas program director Coach Tab Baldwin’s side about his controversial and unfiltered comments against local coaches and the PBA during an interview at the Coaches Unfiltered podcast last June 11, The PBA Commissioner's office decided to fine Baldwin P75,000 and suspend him for three games.
According to a report on the league’s website, PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial handed down the penalty a day after hearing Baldwin’s side. He described Baldwin’s comments as “detrimental to the league”.
Baldwin, who also coaches the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP and also an assistant coach at TnT KaTropa felt apologetic to the league commissioner, saying that his comments were taken out of context and felt bad that it happened and doesn’t have any intention of making the league and coaches look bad.
Marcial gave Baldwin a chance to explain himself during a virtual meeting last Monday, June 15. Joining the commissioner was PBA Deputy Commissioner Eric Castro and league legal counsel Atty, Melvin Mendoza.
