SUBIC, Philippines – The first missile-capable warship of the Philippine Navy arrived at Subic, Zambales from Ulsan, South Korea on the morning of May 22.
The frigate will be named BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) once it is commissioned into service.
Three patrol boats of Naval Forces Northern Luzon that were stationed at Bolinao, Pangasinan welcomed FF150 in a meeting procedure.
Also present at the meeting procedure along the vicinity of Sta. Cruz, Zambales were the BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS17), an Augusta-Westland AW-109 helicopter, and a C-90 Fixed Wing Aircraft. Following the meeting procedure, the Bonifacio escorted the newly arrived frigate to its designated anchorage area.
Commander, Offshore Combat Force Commodore Karl Decapia presided over the arrival rites and traditional passing honors to frigate Jose Rizal with the participation of PS17 and three multi-purpose assault craft (MPACs) on Saturday.
"Our countrymen expect nothing less than the selfless and honorable service that we in the Fleet have sworn to uphold and protect. I enjoin everyone to sustain the momentum that you have gained and continue to aspire for competence and excellence," said Philippine Fleet commander, Rear Adm. Loumer Bernabe.
The ship’s crew will be quarantined for two weeks to comply with government health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The frigate will undergo technical inspection and acceptance procedures following quarantine.
