QC places certain areas under special lockdown

The Quezon City government placed two specific areas in Barangay E. Rodriguez, Cubao under special concern lockdown (SCL) following a surge in the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

Assistant City Administrator Alberto Kimpo said the areas placed under SCL are 138 Ermin Garcia Street and 52 Imperial Street.

Kimpo said the number of active COVID-19 cases in these two areas went up from two to 15.

The assistant administrator added that the decision to place these areas under SCL was based on the request of the Barangay E. Rodriguez captain, followed by verification by the QC Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QC-ESU) and other Barangay officials.

 

“Due to the seriousness of the situation, we immediately put these places under SCL, and seek the national government's concurrence,” said Kimpo.

The QC-ESU of the QC Health Department will conduct further rapid diagnostic testing in the area.

Kimpo said the city government might also place Cadena de Amor St. in Barangay Central under SCL after three residents tested positive under rapid testing conducted in the area.

“The patients are under home quarantine and have been swabbed for confirmatory testing,” said Kimpo.

The city government placed Sitio Militar in Barangay Bahay Toro, Calle 29 in Barangay Libis, and Kaingin Bukid in Barangay Apolonio Samson under SCL earlier.
