Malacañang has authorized the continuation of the Social Amelioration Program distribution in areas that failed to meet the March 10 deadline.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said distribution of cash assistance should continue until the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) takes the money away from local officials.

Roque however said the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) might ask local officials to explain their failure to meet the deadline.

“Ang importante po makarating pa rin ang ayuda dun sa natitirang hindi pa nakatanggap (It is important that assistance will reach those remaining people who haven’t received it yet),” Roque said.

The DILG said 90.86 percent of local officials met the deadline for SAP distribution.

Roque said it is up to the DILG to file administrative complaints against local officials who failed to meet the May 10 deadline.
