Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas said they will file criminal charges against the city's second Covid-19 patient for violating quarantine rules.

Gullas said that, based on their investigation, Patient Talisay Two (PT2) visited Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City last April 18. There she came into contact with two individuals who were later found positive for Covid-19.

Those two cases were revealed on April 21 and 22 but PT2 only informed health authorities that she came into contact with them on April 28.

“PT2 called our Covid hotline and informed us of her connection to the positive cases in Barangay Inayawan and that she was not feeling well, as she started coughing,” the mayor said.

Health authorities immediately went to the residence of PT2 and brought her and her family to a quarantine facility.

Gullas added that PT2 went around parts of the city on April 25, reaching even the San Roque barangay hall.

Gullas admitted that contact tracing has become very difficult because of how long it took before PT2 informed authorities. “But the city will continue to work with the information at hand. We will start swabbing individuals who have had contact with her and start from there, " said the mayor.

A part of San Roque where PT2 resides was also put under lockdown. Three individuals who live with PT2 tested negative for COVID-19. The whole family remains in quarantine.

Gullas reminded his city’s residents to leave their homes only if needed and to always wear masks.

“This is a difficult time for our city. I ask all of you to stay at home. You never know that while you are following instructions and guidelines set by the government, there could be others who disregard the law,” said Gullas.
