DUMAGUETE CITY – The chairperson of Barangay Poblacion 1 Tinago here was shot dead Tuesday night by one of four motorcycle-riding suspects for a still unknown motive.
Harrison Kalubiran Gonzales, 52, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body, a police report said.
Investigation showed that Gonzales was rendering duty at the barangay outpost around 9:30 p.m. together with some village councilmen, when four men riding individually on motorcycles approached them.
One of the men opened fire at the victim, hitting him several times. The suspects then fled towards an unknown location, the police report said.
Gonzales was rushed to the nearby Holy Child Hospital on board a private multi-cab but was pronounced dead by attending physician, Dr. Richmon Azuela.
The victim sustained eight gunshot wounds in the abdomen, five at the back of his body, one at the shoulder, and another at the back of his head.

Barangay councilman Jugemar Cañete told investigators that they were sitting in front of the village outpost when Gonzales was shot.
The police retrieved a video footage of the shooting incident from the closed circuit television (CCTV) system.
