Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said 200 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returning from Milan, Italy need not undergo quarantine at government-designated facilities if they had previously tested negative for Covid-19.

They however should carry out their 14-day quarantine at their homes or other intended destination, he clarified.

COVID-19 guidelines of the Department of Health (DOH) and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) require repatriated OFWs to undergo a 14-day quarantine period at designated medical facilities before being allowed to go home.

Roque said 16,000 OFWs are currently staying in government-designated quarantine facilities.

Among the quarantine facilities housing repatriated OFWs are the quarantine ships operated by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at Pier 15 in Manila, the World Trade Center in Pasay and some hotels in Metro Manila
