The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said a total of 40,534 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have benefitted from the “Hatid Probinsya para sa mga OFWs” government program.

Of the said number, 11,809 were transported by land, 16,637 by plane, and 12,088 by sea through the help of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and its attached agencies.

The PCG said the OFWs availed of the free transportation program of the government so they can go back to their home provinces.

The government’s health protocol requires OFWs to undergo a 14-day quarantine and submit to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests for COVID-19.

The PCG also provided temporary shelters for OFWs repatriated from coronavirus-hit areas.

The PCG said 41 individuals are undergoing mandatory quarantine at the Eva Macapagal Super Terminal while a total of 398 have completed their mandatory quarantine period.

No COVID-19 cases have been confirmed so far in the said facilities.
