Cebu City spokesperson Rey Gealon said the city recorded 18 recoveries from Covid-19 on its first day under general community quarantine (GCQ).

This brings the total recovered patients in Cebu City to 995.

“So far atong recoveries daghan-daghan. Atong mayor nanghinaut nga motuman ta sa stay at home, kung wa lang paliton nga essential goods, puyo lang sa balay. (We have increasing recovery rates. Our mayor is hoping that we follow the Stay-At-Home policy. If we don’t need to buy essential goods, we stay at home),” said Gealon.

The spokesperson said 1,297 positive cases in the city remain active as of Monday.

Gealon reminded city residents especially seniors and minors to stay home while under GCQ if they have no jobs and no valid reason to go out. He also said Cebu Executive Order 69, which limits all movements of persons, remains in effect.

He added that the number coding system for vehicles remains in effect and everyone going out must bring their quarantine passes.

Gealon said outdoor activities such as walking, jogging, running, golf, swimming and other no-contact sports are allowed. Contact sports such as basketball and boxing remain prohibited.

Gealon also said buses will ply 17 routes in the city since jeepneys are still not allowed. More routes will be opened later on to serve workers and residents. Strict border controls will also remain.
