The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has issued guidelines for the resumption of work of government employees.

CSC Commissioner Aileen Lizada said these will form part of new occupational safety and health standards for the public sector.

“We have to look after our government officials and employees kasi tayo inaasahan ng taong bayan na magsilbi sa kanila. If we will not take care our ourselves, who else will take care of them?” Lizada said.

Lizada said department heads of government agencies can choose from the work-from-home scheme, skeleton workforce, four-day workweek, staggered working hours or alternative working arrangement.

She emphasized that elderly government workers, pregnant women and other employees that are vulnerable to COVID-19 will be required to work from home.

The CSC guidelines will fully take effect on May 22.

The guidelines will also be applied retroactively for employees who had been absent since March 16, the date of President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of State of Calamity and imposition of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
