The Valenzuela City government returned on May 16 the bicycles of four cyclists who were nabbed for violating quarantine protocols in the city last month.

“They have served their community service by repacking. Then we kept their bikes during ECQ (enhanced community quarantine). They have learned their lessons. Their bikes have been returned,” Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian said on Facebook.

The four cyclists were arrested after they went outside their homes and biked their way to Manila Bay last April 13 in spite of the ECQ in Valenzuela City.

The cyclists were made to repack relief goods in Valenzuela as penalty.

The cyclists promised to use their bikes within the bounds of law during the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Valenzuela City and other cities in Metro Manila have been placed under MECQ.
