The Department of Justice (DOJ) has reset for next month its preliminary investigation on the quarantine protocol violation complaint against Senator Koko Pimentel.
“Tentatively reset to June 18,” Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento said in a text message to reporters on May 16.
The DOJ initially scheduled the preliminary investigation on May 20.
Former University of Makati law dean Rico Quicho filed a complaint against Pimentel on April 6 for violation of Republic Act No. 11332 and other regulations of the Department of Health (DOH).
Pimentel accompanied his wife, Kathryna, to the Makati Medical Center (MMC) on March 24. He failed to inform hospital staff beforehand that he had undergone a COVID-19 test on March 20 and was waiting for its result. He learned that he tested positive for the virus while in the hospital.
The senator told reporters on May 2 that he is COVID-free after he retested for the virus and obtained a negative result.
