DepEd Bicol probes health protocol breach by personnel in Camarines Norte
The Department of Education in Bicol is investigating a health protocol breach by one of its personnel during a graduation ceremony in Camarines Norte.
A video from the ceremony held last June 11 at a public school in Barangay Dogongan, Daet showed the said DepEd employee removing a facemask from a student and then putting it onto another.
DepEd has asked the employee to submit a written explanation.
The local DepEd COVID-19 Task Force is monitoring the health of everyone involved in the incident. The Barangay Health and Emergency Response Team and other local government offices have also been directed to apply precautionary measures.
DepEd reiterated that graduation rites and other events that require face-to-face interaction are postponed until further notice.
Schools and community learning centers are encouraged to conduct virtual rites and other alternative non face-to-face activities to celebrate the end of the school year.
Heads of schools that have yet to conduct school year-ending rites must submit to the Schools Division Superintendent their proposed activities for approval.
DepEd and IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease) guidelines allow activities that require face-to-face interaction only if the necessary health and safety precautions are complied with. This is subject as well to local community guidelines and the discretion of authorities.
