The Department of Justice (DOJ) has temporarily locked down its main building and adjacent buildings in Manila City after five employees were found positive for COVID-19 following polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said one of the five employees was assigned to a field office while one was from outsourced services.

“I have ordered a lockdown on the DOJ main building, the new NPS building, and the annex building near the court of appeals due to possible exposure to CVID-positive employees reporting therein (one in each building),” Guevarra said.

Guevarra said physical operations will resume on June 29 after the buildings are disinfected. The DOJ will continue to operate while some employees work from home.

The secretary said that despite the buildings’ closure, affidavits, motions, and other papers in connection with scheduled preliminary investigations conducted by state prosecutors will continue to be received at the frontline.

He however said that preliminary investigations may need to be reset.
