DHSUD: Marawi rehab efforts on track despite COVID-19 pandemic
Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Eduardo del Rosario assured that rehabilitation efforts in Marawi City are still on track in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are on the right track despite the three-month lockdown. Continuous pa rin ang trabaho dun kahit during the COVID pandemic, contrary sa mga batikos na tayo ay tumigil sa trabaho natin,” Del Rosario said during Thursday’s Laging Handa virtual press conference.

Del Rosario however admitted that that community quarantine resulted in limitations on manpower and supply of construction materials.
Rosario said they aim to resume full operation by next month after President Rodrigo Duterte approves the P3.6 billion fund for the rehabilitation of Marawi City.
“The fund was already mobilized para magamit (so it will be used) to start the full blast construction by July. We are confident that the Marawi rehabilitation will be completed by December 2021, which is within our timeline,” Del Rosario said.
Marawi City was in ruins after the five month-long battle between the Philippine military and the Islamic State-linked Maute terrorist group that started on May 23, 2017.
The Marawi siege prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to declare martial law over Mindanao.
