Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Jaime Morente said 1,100 bureau employees underwent rapid antibody testing for COVID-19 earlier today.
“We will continue to conduct these tests for our employees until all of them are tested. We have to make sure that our frontliners are not infected with this virus,” he said.
The bureau chief said they are coordinating with the governments of the cities of Manila and Pasay for the rapid testing of their employees at their main office and at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The BI’s main office in Intramuros, Manila was temporarily shut down after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The BI said the employee has received the necessary medical attention.
The discovery prompted Morente to order 3,000 employees to undergo COVID-19 testing last week.
