MANILA, Philippines – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Archie Gamboa said the United Nations (UN) “has their own opinion” on the Anti-drug campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte's Administration.
“Ganoon naman palagi sila, they always accuse the Philippine National Police, they always accuse the Philippine government na maraming human rights violations,” Gamboa said in an interview with PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar.
(They’re always like that. They always accuse the Philippine National Police. They always accuse the Philippine government of human rights violations)
Gamboa maintained that the police follow specific procedures in their operations.
“Our campaign has been relentless but had observed always the human rights or rights of the people” he added.
He also assured that appropriate cases were filed against policemen who failed to follow the official procedures for anti-drug operations.
Gamboa’s statement follows the June 4 release of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights report that accused the Duterte administration of red-tagging.
