Returning OFWs quarantined at We Heal As One Center-WTC

The newly opened We Heal As One Center-World Trade Center received its first batch of returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on Friday, April 24.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar confirmed a total of 58 OFWs from Abu Dhabi arrived at the quarantine center and that more are expected to arrive today.

"We also expect that by Saturday, April 25, 2020, additional 340 repatriates and Foreign Affairs officers from Maldives will arrive and will occupy the same facility," Villar said.

They are expected to stay at the center for at least 14 days.

The facility was set up to ensure comfort and safety. It is fully air-conditioned and has 502 beds.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Health Service Command will provide round-the-clock medical care with 18 military doctors, 30 nurses, and 60 medical aides. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will provide meals.

“This facility will allow our OFWs to receive closer health monitoring as they complete their isolation period in a safe and comfortable environment,” said Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects and BCDA President and CEO Vince Dizon.

The setup of the We Heal As One Center-WTC formally opened last Thursday, April 23, after a set-up period of only seven days.

It was a joint effort of the national government, Ayala Land Inc., Globe Telecom Inc., Manila Water Co. Inc., Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc. (IMI), AC Energy Inc., the Investment and Capital Corporation of the Philippines (ICCP) Group and the Manila Exhibition Center Inc. (MEC).
