A group of local gaming operators on Friday expressed support for the government’s efforts in weeding out illegal gaming operators in the country.

Accredited Service Providers Association of PAGCOR (ASPAP) spokesperson Atty. Margarita Gutierrez said the group approves of the recent arrests of suspected illegal gambling operators in Makati and Paranaque City.

“Our group is compliant with governmental requirements and certifications and faithfully follows the laws and regulations governing regular business operations,” said Gutierrez. “We support the continuing campaign of law enforcers against illegal gambling to weed out the industry of the undesirables.”

The group said it does not condone or tolerate any form of illegal online gambling operations.

Gutierrez also claimed that the existence of illegal POGOs (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators) draws fire to legitimate operators as well.

The group also declared support for the initiative of Rep. JB Bernos for improved regulatory processes to eliminate illegal gambling.

ASPAP also thanked the government for allowing limited resumption of POGO activities. The group promised to remain compliant with the conditions set by Malacañang, PAGCOR and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to ensure the safety of everyone during the COVID-19 pandemic.
