MANILA, Philippines – The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) says the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction or number coding scheme remains suspended until further notice.

“Marami pa ding tayong kababayan na nahihirapang sumakay ngayong GCQ, kaya po kami sa MMDA, ayaw po muna naming bigyan ng dagdag-isipin ang mga motorista (A lot of our countrymen are still having difficulties in commuting during the GCQ and that is why we don’t want to burden motorists any further)” MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago said.

The number coding scheme was suspended when enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) was imposed in Luzon in March.

The MMDA instead imposed a modified scheme this month requiring vehicles on major roads to have at least two occupants. However, exemptions will be given to solo drivers who are frontliners or if they have special permission.
