The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to implement a “modified” number coding scheme in Metro Manila that exempts some vehicles on Monday.
Under the new scheme, all private vehicles with two or more people will be exempted from apprehension, provided that the occupants follow physical distancing and are wearing facemasks.
“Owner-driven or self-driven private motor vehicles of doctors, nurses and other medical personnel (are also exempted),” the MMDA said.
The MMDA added that holders of the authorized persons outside residence (APOR) pass, as specified in the latest guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) and operators of transport network vehicles (TNVs) are also exempted. TNVs are required to put signs on their vehicles for easy identification.
The agency said Metro Manila mayors unanimously approved the MMDA’s regulation during its virtual meeting on May 26.
